nice pictures, question for you about indian music

My name is Laraine Kaizer, I am a violinist who specializes in a variety of strolling violin styles. I would like to ask you for your opinion: What do you think is one or two of the most popular songs in India of all time. Songs that all generations would recognize and enjoy hearing. If you happen to also have any other information about the songs, who recorded them, if they came from a famous movie that would be very helpful.

I am trying to expand my repertoire and so far I only know "Pari Desi" (spelled wrong I think) from Raja Hindustani (one of my favorite movies)
I learn everything by ear so all I need is a song title, then I can look it up on You tube, or rent the movie if it is from a movie.

Thank you so much for your help!

Re: nice pictures, question for you about indian music

Hi Laraine... the most popular songs in India are the songs in the movies. Try "kuch kuch hota hai", it's very popular.

Oh wow, that's a tough question! I'm pretty new to Bollywood and Bollywood/Indian music even though I'm a huge fan.
I would say, though, that most definately most people would recognize and enjoy the main song from the movie "Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge" which is called "Tujhe Dekha To" and sung by Lata Mangeshkar and Kumar Sanu. I think Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge was one of the biggest Bollywood movies of all time which most people, regardless of generation, enjoy.
Beyond that you might want to ask around on some of the other Bollywood communities. Good luck! 8D
